During a financial results briefing, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa shared the news that the company won’t be releasing another model of the Nintendo Switch this year. Earlier today we learned that the Switch has already sold more units than the SNES and is closing in fast on the NES.

Even though the Switch Lite was released just last September, some still held out for another model of the handheld console. And their belief wasn’t baseless, the regular Switch has already seen an unannounced upgrade featuring longer battery life. However, Furukawa’s comments were the final nail in the coffin for those looking to get their hands on a beefier Switch sometime this year.

Here’s what Furukawa had to say about the possibility of a new Switch model.

“Regarding Nintendo Switch, we believe that it is important to continue to communicate the appeal of both Nintendo Swith systems and expand the installed base. Please note that we have no plans to launch a new Nintendo Switch Model during 2020.”

If you’re still looking for a better Switch, an option has been present this entire time, although for some, it may come off as unsavory. Players looking for an upgrade can simply buy a new Switch, that is if you’re still playing on yours from the launch of the console. If you picked up your Switch late last year, say after August or September, you’re likely already playing on a Switch V2. Original Switch owners, however, can still upgrade, although there’s no official trade-in program. You’ll have to bite the bullet and fork over the cash for a brand new Switch. The benefits aren’t stellar either but should make a difference for handheld players. The biggest difference between the original Switch and the V2 is battery life: the newer Switch can last up to 4 hours longer than its counterpart. Sadly, that’s about all.

But if you haven’t bought a Switch yet, now’s a perfect time. Nintendo is launching an adorable new version of the console for Animal Crossing: New Horizon‘s launch. Read about it here.
