Kadokawa Games revealed the first full-length gameplay trailer for Metal Max Xeno Reborn on PS4 and Switch. The trailer shows some cool tank battles against giant monsters, along with some exploration on foot.

Over on Twitter, Metal Max producer Juntaro Kouno also shared some comments on the game. Certain Japanese fans were most notably worried that each party member cannot ride their own tank, as the trailer shows all the characters riding the same one. Producer Kouno confirmed each character can indeed each ride their own tank.

Producer Kouno also confirmed that more information regarding Metal Max Xeno Reborn‘s new game systems will be revealed in January 2020. This will be at the Metal Max 2021 Road to 30th Anniversary event, on January 17.

The gameplay trailer for Metal Max Xeno Reborn is included below.

Metal Max Xeno Reborn is a remake of 2018 released Metal Max Xeno, with new features and realistic-looking environments instead of an anime aesthetic. The characters, designed by Oda Non, keep the same anime style, however. The game is part of the franchise’s 30th-anniversary project. A Metal Max Xeno Reborn 2 game was already announced for a 2020 release on PS4 and Switch. Another game tentatively named Code Zero is also coming in 2021, on unknown platforms. In my opinion, Metal Max is a pretty niche franchise be it in or outside Japan, so it’s nice to see it’s still alive and surviving, echoing its end of century post-apocalyptic theme. I’m looking forward to this.

Metal Max Xeno Reborn will launch on March 26, 2020, in Japan. You can check out the game’s screenshots and Limited Edition details here. The original Metal Max Xeno did come over, so Xeno Reborn will definitely release outside Japan at some point. Kadokawa Games is consistent and reliable when it comes to releasing their games outside Japan too.
