Hironobu Sakaguchi’s Terra Wars Gets New Video Showing how its Claymation Is Made

Yesterday, Hironobu Sakaguchi’s studio Mistwalker Corporation announced Terra Wars, a new game with interesting graphics made in claymation.

Today, they launched a behind-the-scenes video showing off how that is being created.

Claymation is a process that based on creating clay sculptures of characters, and then animating them by taking hundred of pictures in different poses, each of which will be a frame.

At the moment not much is know about Terra Wars, besides the fact that it’ll be released for iOS, Android and PC, and is being co-developed by Azrest, a Yokohama-based studio that worked on the visuals of the original Terra Battle, Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and is currently developing Hey! Pikmin with Nintendo.

Terra Wars will be part of the newly named “Terra World” franchise, that also includes the original Terra Battle and the upcoming Terra Battle 2, that was also announced yesterday.
