Today Spike Chunsoft announced the western release dates for the PS4 ports of its wrestling game Fire Pro Wrestling World.

The game will launch in North America on August 28th, and in Japan on August 31st. The first run of the game will include a New Japan Pro-Wrestling bonus almanac.

If you’re unfamiliar with the game, which marked the return of the old and glorious Fire Pro Wrestling franchise dating all the way back to 1989 and the glorious days of the PC Engine, you can read a list of official features below.

  • Modes include Deathmatch (steel cage, barbed wire, or landmines), MMA rules, no-holds barred gruesome fighting, and SWA homebrew rules that mix pro wrestling and MMA.
  • Create your dream wrestler from over a thousand devastating moves, and even more body parts, to battle for custom championship belts. Personalize the ring, mat logos, and even the referee!
  • Give your creations personalities with a robust system that defines their every action. Does your wrestler play to the crowd, or play dirty? You provide actors for the ringside drama.
  • Share your custom wrestlers with other players, organize exhibition matches, tournaments, leagues, championship bouts, and battle royals with players from around the world.

If you don’t want to wait for the PS4 version, the title is already available on Steam for PC. On the other hand, the version on Sony’s console can already be pre-ordered on Amazon.

If you want to see more about the game, you can check out a batch of screenshots below, and a recent trailer of the PS4 version published around the Game Developers Conference.
