Japanese speedrun event RTA in Japan is currently ongoing, with a Final Sword any% run happening right now.

Final Sword EXPLAINED

If you’ve never heard of Final Sword, it’s one of the most popular games on Japanese Twitter in 2020.  First released on iOS and Android, the game was later ported to Switch through the Nintendo Eshop on July 2, 2020. It immediately became a social phenomenon. And entered the legends as it got swiftly deleted from the Nintendo Eshop for plagiarizing Zelda’s Lullaby.

Developer HUP Games was contacted by Japanese outlets, and explained it bought the music used in-game on a BGM and assets store, without knowing it was plagiarized. The mobile version didn’t include the Zelda’s Lullaby BGM. Moreover, the mobile version of the game is overall quite different from the Switch one, which is still impossible to buy to this day.

As such, only a select few, the Chosen Ones, now own Final Sword on Switch. Plus, only a handful of these players dare to speedrun the game. This is the case of @fis314 and @selain237, the runner and the commentator of the ongoing run.

Thanks to its incredibly ambitious open-world and gameplay, Final Sword has remarkably forged itself a stainless reputation this year. And now it’s up to you to experience it. All thanks to RTA in Japan.

RTA – Real Time Attack – is how Japanese gamers call Speedrunning. RTA in Japan is an event happening twice a year, a few days before AGDQ and SGDQ each year. The ongoing RTA in Japan started on December 27 and will last until December 31. Being a Japanese event, RTA in Japan is incredibly interesting. As you’ll get to see Japan-only games and more obscure games rarely ever featured on Western events. Lastly, it’s great Japanese practice if you’re learning the language. Catch the RTA in Japan schedule here. You can easily catch the game’s names through google translate.
