During Electronic Arts’ quarterly earnings conference call, Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wilson talked more about the situation of Anthem’s development at BioWare.

Wilson mentioned that Anthem is “tracking well” on its development milestones, and and the publisher is “really confident” about the ship date.

We also hear that the new release window isn’t considered a delay by EA regardless of how it’s being portrayed. They have chosen to launch in Q4 of fiscal year 2019 simply due to portfolio balancing considerations, and not for product readiness reasons.

The company is really excited about how the next battlefield is shaping up, and it simply doesn’t make sense to launch Anthem next to it. Since it’s a brand new IP, it makes sense to give it its own launch window, in order to give it the focus and attention it deserves and some “free air.”

Anthem will launch between January 1st and March 31st 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
