Dying Light: Bad Blood Expansion Brings New Life to Zombie Multiplayer

Dying Light, News, Originals, PC, Platforms, PS4, Techland, Xbox One

Years after its initial release, Dying Light continues to maintain a strong player fan base and following such that it will be receiving a new multiplayer expansion later this year.

Despite a lot of hype about the Bad Blood being a “battle royale” of sorts, the actual mode will feature six players dropped off on various maps with the simply objective of collecting blood samples around the map and then returning to the helicopter for exfiltration. The only problem? The blood samples are in the middle of ravenous zombie hordes or on the hips of well-equipped players, and there’s only one seat in the helicopter waiting for you.

Rounds appear to be rather short — around 10 minutes depending on the players. Everyone has only a single life to spare, so simple mistakes can quickly compound into serious threats as blood samples are collected. This expansion certainly aims to leverage off of the recent success of many survival and “battle royale” style games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds but definitely takes a different direction in such a way that it doesn’t seem fair to compare it to those games. Dying Light: Bad Blood promises a smaller, quicker and more intense experience for its eager fans.

While we don’t know whether or not the Bad Blood expansion will have benefits bleeding over into the singleplayer campaign or what kinds of maps and environments we can expect to see. Released demos look pretty complete, but more details will arise as we get closer to a release date.

You can take a look at some gameplay footage from the six-man survival game in its early stages below from IGN, and you can also take a look at our review of Dying Light. The game has been out for PC, PS4 and Xbox One for several years now, so this makes the perfect excuse to dust off your copy if you have it shelved and enter back into Techland’s world of zombie infestation.
