Deep Rock Galactic is a 1-4 player co-op that mixes equal parts Left 4 Dead, Minecraft, and marvelous dwarven beards. The game has been in early access since February 2018, quietly building up one of the most fun-looking fusions in the co-op space. And now, developer Ghost Ship Games is finally ready to bring the game to full release. Deep Rock Galactic hits 1.0 on May 13. Give the new trailer below a watch to a great idea of what’s in store for new players.

Deep Rock Galactic‘s unique blend of class-based multiplayer and procedurally-generated maps make it a game to watch. Players looking for a modern-day version of Left 4 Dead should definitely give DRG a look. As you move through the deep cave networks, you’ll come across endless hordes of monsters. Each class brings their own unique flair to the job. Whether you play as the rifle-toting Gunner, the turret-building Engineer, or one of the other classes, you’ll bring your own specific role to the squad.

Of course, if you’re not interested in playing with others, Deep Rock Galactic does support single-player. That said, everything I’ve heard about the game tells me that with friends is definitely the way to play. After all, those caves are “dark and full of terrors”. You’d be much safer braving them with a pal or three.

Deep Rock Galactic blasts out of early access on May 13. The game is available on PC and Xbox One. Xbox One users can crossplay with players who purchased the game from the Windows 10 store, but not with Steam users. So, make sure you have all your ducks in a row when you and your squad go to pick it up.
