It’s December 10, which means that players have been able to jump into CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077and while console users may have had to wait until midnight in their localized territories, PC users saw a simultaneous unlock. As it happens, for Steam specifically, the statistics have been huge, hitting over 1 million players.

According to SteamDB, once players got past the frustrating Day One patch, Cyberpunk 2077 saw a concurrent player count of 1,003,264 since the game became available worldwide. At the time of writing during the early British hours of 8am, there are reportedly 800,333 players on the game right now. Streamers have also been playing the game as expected, and in the last 24-hours the peak viewer count has been at 1,143,961.

For comparison with the studio’s previous game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, this saw a concurrent player count back in 2015 of over 90,000. However, following the launch of the Netflix live-action series, the game boomed again in 2019 hitting 103,329 concurrent players. So CD Projekt Red’s newest title may have beaten The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in terms of launch figures, but it’s still yet to catch up to beat the most recent spike.

Cyberpunk 2077 will likely see a rise in figures when more players have either been able to download the game or when the weekend arrives. As for figures on other platforms, this information is not yet known.

The only game to top Cyberpunk 2077 in the last 24-hour period has been Valve’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive which sits at 1,008,334 concurrent players. CS:GO has seen a brand-new update that introduces a new map and some other new features as outlined by the official blog post.

If you’re looking on picking the game up, it’s now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and Stadia. We do have a review in the works so expect that to land at some point when we’ve been able to stop playing around with character creation.
