Right now it’s still December 31st in the west, but in Japan it’s already 2018. Three of the most relevant developers and publisher from the archipelago of the rising sun decided to welcome the New Year (that in Japan is basically the most relevant holiday there is) with videos.

First of all, we get Bandai Namco, who put its most relevant developers in front of a camera, to wish us all Happy Holidays and Happy New Year. We even get one Kamehameha-style.

Arc System Works opted for a more traditional style, yet it wasn’t without a twist, with Guilty Gear series Director Daisuke Ishiwatari playing his electric guitar. Interestingly, 2018 will be the 10th anniversary of the Blazeblue series, the 20th anniversary of Guilty Gear and the 30th anniversary of the studio. We get the tease of new games, and an “Arc System Works 30th Anniversary Festival” that will be held in May.

Last, but not least, is Koei Tecmo, that went with a completely different approach and said farewell to 2017 by looking back to the veritable cornucopia of games they released this year, starting from NiOh to Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey, there’s something for everyone. We even get a nostalgic look at Dead or Alive 5: The Last Round, which is finally going the way of the dodo this year, after seven season passes. If it isn’t a Guinness World Record, it should be.

You can enjoy all the videos below. And since it’s almost time, Happy New Year from us all at DualShockers, to you all! May 2018 be a year of even better games.
