Director Masahiro Sakurai and Nintendo had previously announced that more DLC characters would be coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after work on the initial Fighters Pass wrapped up. As of today, we now have a better idea of just how that future content will roll out.
Much as we’ve become accustomed to already, the next DLC fighters that join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will arrive in the form of a Fighters Pass. The aptly named Fighters Pass Vol. 2 won’t contain five characters this time around, though, but will instead include six. This means that when all is said and done, 12 new characters will have joined Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s roster following its initial release.
During the presentation, Sakurai stated that all six characters who will be added to Smash Ultimate in the Fighters Pass 2 have already been decided on. Essentially, if you want to see one of your own personal favorites make the roster, there’s no need to make your desire known to Sakurai on platforms such as Twitter since the die has already been cast.
No characters that will be included in Fighters Pass Vol. 2 have yet to be revealed, but it was said that all six new fighters will be added to the game before the end of 2021. Furthermore, if you want to pre-order this new expansion pass, you can begin doing so on January 28. It’s safe to assume that reveals for who will be included in this bundle will likely start to be revealed later in the year, likely during new Nintendo Direct presentations that will come about.
There was a whole lot more announced to be coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate today, including the arrival of Byleth from Fire Emblem Three Houses as a new fighter. Additionally, Cuphead is joining the game as a new alternate costume for the Mii Gunner character. Even though Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is going on two years old, it doesn’t seem like content for the game is coming to a halt any time soon.
