Axiom Verge became quite the indie darling when Thomas Happ Games released it in 2015. In the years that followed, the game has come to many more systems like PC, PS Vita, Wii U, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Today, Thomas Happ made a surprise appearance at the end of Nintendo’s Indie World showcase to reveal that he has been working on a new game for four years: Axiom Verge 2.
As a follow up to the original, Axiom Verge 2 still seem to be a Metroidvania; that being said, it looks a bit brighter and features a slightly different art style than the first game. As for the plot, the game will actually be a prequel that follows a woman named Indra. “Indra alone can navigate the breach. She fights for her life, empowered by the same microscopic machines that are gradually consumer her humanity. Life. Afterlife. Real. Virtual. Dream. Nightmare. It’s a thin line. It’s Axiom Verge 2,” reads the game’s official synopsis.
