The date was Sunday, January 6, 2019. It’s the fourth quarter of the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs with the Philadelphia Eagles against the Chicago Bears. The score is 16-15 in favor of the Eagles. All the Bears had to do was get in field goal range and kick the ball between those godforsaken goal posts. Mitchell Trubisky does just that, giving kicker Cody Parkey great field position. Well, turns out he doinked it leading to a very upsetting Bears loss.
The infamous double doink has been the butt end of a few jokes, one of which involves the incredibly popular battle royale game Fortnite. From a post by Reddit user Daquii, we see a Fortnite man in a Chicago Bears uniform at Pleasant Park’s football field. The player uses the golf putting emote to “kick” a field goal. They too doinked it.
Parkey’s doink has haunted me. I haven’t been so disappointed about a sport since…. well since I watched the Chicago White Sox. So, I guess that isn’t that long ago. That being said, I’ve heard many say, “oh, I could have made that,” or “that was so close, I could have made it no problem.” This has led to Chicago brewery Goose Island’s Parkey Challenge, which the video above is aptly named after.
In other Fortnite related news, both PUBG and Fortnite topped PlayStation Store’s download charts last month. You can play the game now on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, and mobile devices.
