According to market researcher site Sensor Tower, Fortnite: Battle Royale is making waves in the mobile scene, surpassing $15 million in revenue in less than a month.
Just recently, the mobile version of Fortnite opened its doors to all iOS users, foregoing the previous invite-only system. With that lift, players were free to spend money in the item shop to their heart’s content, and the statistics show that they did. Sensor Tower data shows us that lifting the invite increased player expenditure by 197% on April 2. Compare that to the $620,000 average across all previous days and that totals $1.8 million in sales on April 2.
Additionally, mobile revenue for Fortnite: Battle Royale has now surpassed $15 million gross worldwide in just the twenty days since the game began monetizing on March 15. We see sharp growth in sales at two key points: when the Starter Pack was released and when the invite-only restriction was lifted. All-in-all, global installs have reached 11 million since launch.
The game also holds a spot in the top ten grossing games on iPhone in 23 countries and remains number one in nearly twenty regions. Fortnite: Battle Royale dominates other mobile competitors like Candy Crush Saga, Clash of Clans and Pokemon Go in sales, which we can only expect to increase as plans for the app to arrive in the Android Play Store come to fruition.
