Prior to joining DualShockers, I spent 10 years working in summer camps. There, I’ve learned and invented a fair number of dumb games and activities, but one memory that’s always stood out is when a 7-year-old taught me this weird solitaire variant called Nerts. That game ruled our cabin for a two-week session, and I’ve been playing it ever since. So, consider me surprised to see Zachtronics announce their latest game is taking Nerts and putting it live on the internet. Check out the trailer below.

If you’ve never had a chance to play Nerts, I’m here to tell you that it’s quite fun. Think of it as a fast-paced, competitive version of solitaire. You and your opponents are trying to work through your personal Nerts pile to be the first to get rid of all of those cards and score points by playing cards in the middle area. Really, just watch the video above to get a good idea of what you’re in for.

Zachtronics continues to make incredibly polished games. Nerts! Online looks fantastic. And the best part is that it’s free. Of course, as they note on Twitter, you do unlock new card backs for owning their older titles. However, if you just want to hop in for some Nerts goodness, you can do so for the low price of zero dollars. You can’t beat that.

Nert! Online is available now on PC. I’m just downloading it as we speak, but I will wholeheartedly recommend you check it out. It’s such a great card game that more people should give it a try.
