Warframe players don’t have to wait much longer for the new Heart of Deimos update, which adds a third open world to the ninja-themed online action RPG, among other new features.

Check out 33 minutes of gameplay footage right here:

The new open-world zone, called Deimos, is infested with buglike enemies called the ‘Entrati’, which would look at home alongside Starcraft‘s ‘Zerg’ or Halo‘s ‘Flood’.

In it, players will find the Necralisk, which appears to be a sort of base of operations on the moon’s surface. But more importantly, they’ll find Necromechs, a new type of heavy-armored battle suit that can be entered and used in any open-world area (including Orb Vallis and Plains of Eidolon) which appears to add a strong element of Mech Warrior to the otherwise space ninja-focused action.

Warframe: Heart of Deimos is also set to introduce a new ‘Void’-themed Warframe called ‘Xaku’, which is the second community-designed Warframe to make its way into the game proper.

Xaku looks like a mad science experiment gone wrong, what with all the unfinished parts of its chassis just dangling out, but don’t underestimate it; this Warframe can use ‘Void’ abilities to do things like turn enemies against one another or make its own weapons more powerful.

(For the uninitiated, think of Warframes as collectible character classes that you level up independently and can switch in and out of; like sneakers, but a bit larger.)

In addition to Xaku and another small handful of new Warframes— Alchemist and Wraithe— there’s an entirely new system of progression that’s coming alongside Warframe: Heart of Deimos. This new system of progression is called the ‘Helminth Chrysalis’, which is a sort of “mouth” built right into the innards of your personal spaceship.

Don’t worry about getting bitten, however, as this Helminth Chrysalis only wants to eat minerals— or entire Warframes— in exchange for special permanent upgrades that you can apply to any mecha-suit of your choosing.

It’s a good thing then that your old, used-up Warframes don’t have subjective awareness modules. Or a soul.

Expect the new Heart of Deimos update to drop down on August 25 for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PS4. Warframe is also slated to release on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
