Grasshopper Manufacture and Nintendo announced Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes just over one year ago, bringing the quirky Nintendo Wii series back in a different genre exclusively for Nintendo Switch. Today, we learned that Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes will finally be releasing on January 18, 2019.

Yesterday, DualShockers’ own Logan Moore attended Nintendo’s PAX West showcase, tried Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, and talked to mastermind developer Goichi Suda, also known as Suda51. During that conversation, Logan asked why the game was pushed back from its initial 2018 release window, and Suda51 said it was because they didn’t want to hurt Super Smash Bros Ultimate’s sales by releasing Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes around the same time. Mindful as always, Suda51.

For those of you who aren’t aware, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes breaks series tradition, opting for a top-down action heavy style of gameplay featuring co-op play between Travis Touchdown and Badman. The game follows the two aforementioned characters after they get sucked into a phantom game console called Death Drive MK-II while fighting.

Players will be able to fight through six different games while wearing t-shirts that reference other popular indie games by Devolver Digital like Hotline Miami. Alongside the release date announcement, the developers also revealed every indie game that will be featured on a t-shirt in Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes. Some of these titles aren’t even available on Nintendo Switch yet; anyway, you check out the full list of referenced games below:

  • Absolver
