Today, CD Projekt Red has revealed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition will be heading to next-generation platforms and is currently in development. The next-generation edition will be heading to PC, Xbox Series X, and PS5 and will feature a range of graphical updates to make it look pretty.

Currently in development, it’s detailed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next-generation edition will feature a range of technical and graphical improvements. While not much is detailed exactly what, we do know that this will include ray tracing and faster loading times. These improvements will span across the entire base game, both major expansions, and all available extra content.

The game itself will be available as a standalone purchase for PC, Xbox Series X, and PS5, although if you already own the game on PC, Xbox One, or PS4, you’ll be able to update the current version to the next-generation edition for free. This is the same for the studios’ upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 which will allow players to upgrade their current-generation versions to next-generation versions for free which personally sounds fantastic, so I’m glad to see them following this trend with The Witcher.

While The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been available since 2015, the game is still incredibly popular. The franchise as a whole has recently been revealed to have surpassed 50 million units sold and the surge in recent popularity can most likely be down to the Netflix live-action series that launched last year with a second season on the way. Last month, a Pokemon GO style mobile version of The Witcher was also revealed.

At current, it’s not clear when the next-generation platforms The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition will be available for purchase due to still being in development, but the current versions are available on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. Personally, I am excited to re-experience the world with raytraced visuals.
