The Razer Turret Keyboard and Mouse Combo Is Made for Xbox One

Having keyboard and mouse support on the Xbox One is strange, especially for a PC player. We’ve all seen the competitive edge that the characters, punctuation, and digits can give players when competing against controllers in cross-play games like Fortnite. It shouldn’t be a surprise though that Xbox is now supporting Keyboard and Mouse since you control the console with everything from a remote to your smartphone. It also might not come as a surprise that Razer is the first company to design a wireless keyboard (enter the Razer Turret) and mouse specifically for use with Microsoft’s console.

“By gamers for gamers” is their motto after all.

The new wireless keyboard and mouse combo is called the Razer Turret which feeds both input devices through a 2.4 GHz USB dongle straight into one port on the Xbox One. That’s not surprising, however, as wireless keyboard combos have done the single-dongle approach before. What is new with the Razer Turret is the use of Xbox Dynamic Lighting in collaboration with Razer Chroma to offer a more immersive experience on games that support it.

In addition, the Turret includes an integrated Xbox button so that you can pull up the menu without having to reach for a normal controller. You can check out more pictures of the device below.

The keyboard is mechanical, so you’ll be getting that inert (and totally not placebo) advantage over anyone trying to use a membrane keyboard. The wireless mouse is modeled after the Razer Mamba Wireless mouse, which has a 5G optical sensor.

The entire combo unit has a 40-hour battery life and can be charged by sliding the integrated mouse pad into the keyboard or if you’re looking to store the Turret more conveniently. It (thankfully) also has a wrist rest so you don’t develop carpal tunnel too early. The combo is also compatible with Windows 10 so you can use it on your PC, or perhaps with a Windows 10 streaming PC you’ve built.

The Razer Turret is pretty pricey at $249.99. We’ll have to wait to get our hands on it to say if that price is worth it. It is available exclusively through the Microsoft Store for pre-order and will ship by March 31. There’s also an exclusive deal running right now where pre-ordering the device will get you a $25 Xbox gift card.

The Turret will be supported and integrated into games such as Fortnite, Minecraft, Warframe, and more. I’m personally excited to finally start seeing Razer shift towards the industry-standard 2-year warranty for this product. That was a big deal in my reviews of other Razer products like the Razer Raiju Elite, which you can read about here.
