Nintendo on December 18 opened a new special site for open-air adventure The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The special site shares players’ memories of the game and is very heartwarming. The site is articulated around multiple keywords, such as “You can go anywhere”. “Challenging nature”. “Challenging monsters”.  “Unrestrained”. “All for survival”. “In search of your memories and fulfilling your guard duty”. This references Link’s lifestyle and exploits in Breath of the Wild.

In total, the site includes 17 pages of messages from Japanese players. In particular, you can find this message from a 67 years old Japanese grandmother:

Message from Junjun, 67 years old BOTW player:

“I decided to travel to Hyrule Kingdom at 67 years old. At first, I struggled to climb off the tower after Link wakes up and activates it. My hands were sweating, hearing my grandchildren complaining, and I finally managed to do it after multiple tries. I was alone and grinning when I managed to defeat a Guardian for the first time. I’m still proud I ultimately managed to discover and clear all 120 Shrines before my grandchildren did. My journey ended with my grandchildren praising me: “grandma you’re so awesome!!”. Did the desolate Hyrule Kingdom managed to revive into a beautiful country? I would love to see it again with my grandchildren.”

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild released worldwide on March 3, 2017, together with the Nintendo Switch. The game is available on Wii U as well. Nintendo has announced a sequel, which has no official title yet.

A prequel, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, is also available now. The game developed by Koei Tecmo became in a few days the highest selling Musou title of all time. Be sure to check out our review.
