Editor’s Note: Some late-game spoilers for The Last of Us Part II are present in this article. Please continue at your own caution.

It’s great to see that The Last of Us Part 2 is still as current as ever even with the title coming out two months ago. Naughty Dog announced last week that the game is receiving the Grounded treatment in a brand new update alongside Permadeath mode for all you hardcore thrill-seekers out there. It’s been fun to see gamers tackle the game without dying, especially so when they are a few hours in and totally mess up by doing something as simple as sliding off a rope. What’s even more exciting is the number of incredible cosplayers who are showing up with their A-game recently and totally blowing it out of the water. Today we have an amazing shot of cosplayer lucidinrapture reenacting Ellie’s torturous scene towards the end of The Last of Us Part 2.

Having highlighted plenty of cosplaying articles over my time as a writer here at DualShockers, I understand the amount of hard work and commitment that goes into getting it all to just work. Hours, if not months, is pumped into getting the costume right, make-up spot on, and backdrop perfect – not to mention hiring a photographer to capture all of this in a single shot. Ellie from The Last of Us Part 2 is one of the most popular cosplays that people seem to turn to and even though Ellie’s tomboy image is quite simplistic in its nature requiring some jeans, chucks and a shirt – this doesn’t mean that it doesn’t take time and effort to make you to stand out from the rest.

Here we see seasoned Australian cosplayer lucidinrapture in a striking Ellie shot by photographer @eclectic_cohesion on a beautiful, sunkissed beach. For those of you who have completed the game, you’ll know all too well what this scene is and how it came about. When lucidinrapture initially posted her shoot, people really didn’t actually believe that it was a cosplay of Ellie and thought that it was from the game and, of course, we can see why. She does an incredible job of portraying Ellie on her knees, defeated and heartbroken, after that horrific incident with Abby. Commenting on her Instagram post lucidinrapture said it was “worth the freezing cold water in winter and covering myself in sticky fake blood for this shot” and I very much agree.

You can check out lucidinrapture’s other Ellie cosplays over on her Instagram right here. As well as Ellie, she also does a superb job cosplaying as Ciri from The Witcher 3, V from Cyberpunk, Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, and many more. You can also watch lucidinrapture over on YouTube showcasing her V from Cyberpunk 2077 whilst giving off those neon vibes.

If you happened to think you were imagining hearing director/writer Neil Druckmann and co-writer Halley Gross chatting over the radio as two WLF members towards the end of the game with Abby, you weren’t wrong. Apparently Druckmann and Gross lent their voices for this particular scene and for someone who thought they knew all the in’s and out’s of Part 2, I completely missed this!

What fan wouldn’t be excited about the upcoming The Last of Us HBO series? Recently, we learned that it will include a “Jaw Drop” moment that was originally cut from the game. Chernobyl creator and HBO’s The Last of Us writer Craig Mazin said that ”We’re creating new [things] and re-imagining what is already there to present it for a different format,” Mazin told the BBC’s Must Watch. “Our goal is not to keep you in love with The Last of Us, but to make you fall in love with it again in a different way. It’s a passive way of taking it in, instead of playing it, but you’ll be experiencing more, with more characters in more ways.” Mazin says of his reaction to hearing about a moment that Druckmann had initially left out of The Last of Us “Jaw drop – that’s going in. For sure, we have to do that. You couldn’t stop me doing that. You will have to shoot me [to stop me] from doing that.”

The Last of Us Part 2 is available now exclusively on PS4 (and soon to be PS5). The game was one of DualShockers’ favorites of 2020; make sure to check out the official DualShockers (generally spoiler-free) review. Also, feel free to grab the game physically on Amazon to help support the site.
