From its original release in 2013, The Last of Us already had many claiming it was an instant classic thanks to its incredible sense of storytelling and gritty, impactful gameplay, and now five years after its release, Naughty Dog has revealed that it’s had quite the sales success in the years since.

Over on the studio’s official Twitter account, Naughty Dog revealed that as of April 2018, The Last of Us has sold over 17 million copies worldwide since its debut in 2013, which (most likely) includes sales accounting for the original PS3 title and The Last of Us Remastered, which debuted on PS4 the year after.

Given the game’s remarkable success so far, it’s no surprise that we’re about to see a follow-up to the game in the form of The Last of Us Part II, which saw an extensive new demo at E3 2018 including gameplay, and tons of new details about the upcoming game have been revealed by the studio.
