During the EVO Japan 2018 tournament in Akihabara, Tokyo, SNK announced that The King of Fighters ’97 Global Match would be their latest Neo Geo port onto the PS4, PS Vita, and PC.

The title will feature the addition of online support so players can fight one another in multiplayer. According to SNK, the game will be available sometime this Spring in Japan. As of right now no announcement has been made about a Western release.

If you’re not familiar with this iteration of The King of Fighters, it’s the fourth game in the long-running series and features 27 different characters. The title originally released on the Neo Geo arcade and home console but also eventually made its way onto the Neo Geo-CD as well as the original PlayStation and Sega Saturn in Japan only.

The game has also been ported onto a multitude of different consoles and devices over the years, including the Nintendo Wii, PSP, PS2, PS4, and even iOS and Android. While some of those versions contained online leaderboards where players could compete for the top spot against one another, this will be the first version of the game that allows players to duke it out in online matches.
