Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that the next three installments in the Jak and Daxter series are hitting the PlayStation 4 digitally this month.
According to the press release, fans of the dynamic duo will be able to complete their collection once again when Jak II, Jak III, and Jak X: Combat Racing comes to PlayStation 4 on Wednesday, December 6 via the PlayStation Store. All three titles have been confirmed to run at 1080p.
Eachof the three titles will be available for purchase individually, or you can save some cash and buy all four games as a bundled package. Additionally, this marks the first time Jak X: Combat Racing has been ported to another console since it was initially released back in 2005.
Of course, it’s no surprise that Sony is bringing back these titles, earlier this year, the company digitally released the first title for $14.99. Despite no price announced for the bundle as well as each game individually, I would not be surprised if the other three titles were $14.99 separately as well.
The Jak and Daxter series was established on December 3, 2001, when Naughty Dog released Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy as a PlayStation 2 exclusive. Since 2001, the Jak and Daxter series has spawned six games (and one compilation featuring the first three titles for the PS3 and Vita); the franchise has not received a new entry since 2009’s Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier (developed instead by High Impact Games).
Nonetheless, I am personally very excited that all four of these games will soon be available on the PlayStation 4. As someone who grew up playing these games on my PlayStation 2, I cannot wait to revisit Jak and Daxter’s first four adventures.
