Frozenbyte’s Trine series is a platforming action game with stunning environments and dynamic puzzle-solving. The team is working away on Trine 4 and, in a new video, they’re taking us behind the scenes to give an in-depth look at the next installment. Check it out below.
Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince serves as a return to form for the Trine series. In the first two releases, the team used 2.5D environments to capture players’ imaginations and make their worlds feel magical. Trine 3 saw the game go to fully 3D, which represented some challenges (both in design and finances) for the studio. Trine 4 takes the game back to its roots. They plan to use the classic 2.5D environments to build a game both new and old Trine players should love.
Alongside Trine 4, Frozenbyte is releasing Trine: Ultimate Collection. This will give players full access to all four games in the series. If you’re new to the franchise, this is an excellent way to jump in. This is something the devs are very excited about, as it gives everyone a chance to hop in and see what the games are about.
Frozenbyte is calling Trine 4 the “most complete Trine ever”. From this video, it certainly looks like the team is doing everything they can to erase any bad taste Trine 3 left in player’s mouths. Hopefully, they can recapture some of that old magic and make this one a worthy addition to the franchise family.
Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince is coming fall 2019 to Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
