The lucky people over at GameInformer got the chance to get a tour of Game Freak’s office in Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan.

Thankfully for the rest of us, they’ve released an in-depth video of the company’s office. In the video they talk about how surprisingly hidden Game Freak’s office seems to be in Tokyo. Even during my own time in Japan I noticed that most offices aren’t flashy, even Nintendo’s building in Kyoto doesn’t immediately stick out.

I found the most interesting thing in the video to be their discussion on Game Freak’s relationship with Nintendo. Although the two companies have always been close and associated together, Game Freak is a second-party studio. We get to learn a little bit more about the creative differences the two have had in the past with Pokémon games on different Nintendo platforms.

We also get a brief look at some of Game Freak’s super cool lobby, filled to the brim with (maybe?) every Pokémon ever. Their office is surprisingly shoe free, making for a more relaxed environment even though the company has upwards of 100 employees.

The guys at GameinInformer mentioned that there was a whole section of the office completely off limits to them. Maybe due to the Pokémon RPG for Switch that’s in development? They said that the part of the office they got to view is where Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are in development.

You can check out the video down below.

There are some cool new Pokémon games out later this year, including Pokkén Tournament DX, coming to Switch on September 22. Also, Ultra Sun and Moon are making their way exclusively to Nintendo 3DS hardware on November 17.
