Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris Producer Yousuke Futami held a new Periscope stream on May 29, answering live questions from fans. SAO games Producers are regularly holding Periscope streams to deliver news on their respective games amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. Yousuke Futami previously revealed Alicization Lycoris’ length and answered questions regarding a Switch port on a previous Periscope stream we covered. Here’s the new details Producer Futami shared:

Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris is now gold. The game’s development was finished around two weeks ago. It was completed only a few days after Producer Futami said it was almost gold. The development team is now focusing on the DLC content. Futami said he could finally take a break in a long while and play some of his backlog: he just started Code Vein.

The first part of the game adapting the first part of Alicization is pretty long, but the second part with an original scenario is the longest.

Each character’s ultimate move animation attack changes depending on the weapon they have equipped. However, characters can’t equip weapons types they aren’t using in the first place. For example, Eugeo can equip a sword other than the Blue Rose Sword, but can only equip one-handed swords.

They’ll reveal Medina’s three sizes later on in some form.

Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris should have more streams this June as we get closer to release. New information on the game will be coming each week too. Bandai Namco will reveal the game’s opening movie and the final trailer soon.

Next up, here are the latest Character Sub Episode event scene samples published on Twitter, with Fanatio and Alice:

The next sample will feature Renly.

Moreover, concept artwork for Medina Orthinanos, Alice and Kirito were shared. Medina is the new original character of Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris. As such, it’s interesting to see some of the variations her design went through. Meanwhile, Alice and Kirito obviously didn’t change.

We recently learned the total sales for all SAO console games have also topped 5.6 million units in the world.

Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris launches July 10 worldwide on PC via Steam, PS4, and Xbox One. You can read the latest story details here. You can preorder it on Amazon to support us.
