Super Smash Bros. Ultimate-Themed Splatfest in Splatoon 2 Ends with Villains Victory

Splatoon 2 wrapped up yet another Splatfest over the weekend, an event that served as a bit of cross-promotion. Pitting fans of Nintendo heroes vs. their respective villains in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the team choosing the latter ultimately came home with the victory.

As the Nintendo Versus Twitter breaks it down, most players chose the side of the heroes; Team Villains was able to make up for that loss by winning the majority of both Normal and Pro matches. Those eager for more Super Sea Snails can have the “FrostyFest” event to look forward to, with players this time having to choose between Friends and Family.

Meanwhile, major content updates for Splatoon 2 are nearly done, with a patch coming this week and new Kensa Collection weapons having been added earlier in the month. In terms of Nintendo’s online offerings, the focus seems to be shifting towards Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, even though players are dissatisfied with the online features.

Even so, the new Smash Bros. has some decent overlap with the Splatoon series, featuring an Inkling fighter. The Squid Sisters also appear as Assist Trophies, and we now know through a glitch that Isabelle can create as many of them as players want.

Both Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 2 are exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. Rest easy knowing that Nintendo fans who support evil and villainy are apparently better at video games than yourself.
