Bandai Namco announced a new Super Robot Wars live stream is coming on October 12, and it will most notably feature Super Robot Wars OG writer Soichiro Morizumi. The stream (YouTube) will be at 2100 JST (Click here for a time conversion table).
On the August 2020 SRW stream, where a huge urban legend regarding Dunbine was debunked, the staff did mention another stream would be coming in October, and here we are now. The stream will have the “latest information” on the series. That’s what they always say, and doesn’t necessarily means a new game getting announced. The first part of the stream will most notably focus on announcements for the 5th anniversary of SRW X-Ω. The second part of the stream, will be an all night long talk show between the series’ developers.
The stream will feature the usual people: the comedy duo Gattsukitai ka, seiyuu Kenji Akabane, Super Robot Wars Series Producer Takanobu Terada, SRW X-Ω (Cross Omega) Producer Hiroaki Oochi, SRW DD Producer Red, and others.
The stream this time will most notably feature Soichiro Morizumi, one of the main scenarist of multiple Super Robot Wars games and the Super Robot Wars OG series. Working at Monolith Soft, Soichiro Morizumi was most notably the Director of Namco X Capcom and all of its spiritual successors: the Mugen no Frontier SRW OG games, and the Project X Zone games. Soichiro Morizumi left Monolith Soft on March 31, 2017 and moved to Tri-Crescendo. However, Morizumi has been back on the SRW series recently. He wrote the Mazinger Z x Amuro Ray Crossing Pilot Scenario in SRW DD. It’s possible he’s working on a new SRW OG game right now.

It’s also worth mentioning that on the previous stream, Producer Takanobu Terada mentioned that one day he’d like to do an at least 4 hours long stream showing off mecha toys. So expect a lot of that on the stream. No SRW game was released this year, so we had less streams than usual too. Moreover, with the Covid-19 pandemic, Bandai Namco tried out unusual things in 2020, like the SRW Mahjong stream.
A new Super Robot Wars game will definitely release in 2021, probably on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC, seeing it’ll be the series 30th anniversary. This October 2020 also marks the tenth anniversary of the latest SRW OG anime adaptation. Director Masami Obari said he’d like to make more.
