While yesterday’s Dragon Ball Games Super Showcase didn’t house any jaw-dropping announcements, many hardcore fans were happy to hear that Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission, a new game based on the popular Japanese arcade cabinet, was actually coming west for PC and Nintendo Switch this April. Now, a day after the western release’s announcement, Bandai Namco Entertainment America released the first localized screenshots of and provided more details about Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission and its story.

As some of you may know, Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission is only the latest game in the Super Dragon Ball Heroes series. Several other versions of the game released in Japan in the arcade and on 3DS but those unfortunately never made it westward. Bandai Namco Brand Manger Religioso still thinks Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission will “surely delight every Dragon Ball fan who loves a challenge,” in the west with its card-based strategy gameplay.

Apparently, the game is set in a place called Hero Town where a card game based on Dragon Ball is one of the alternate reality’s biggest pastimes. Players control a character named Beat who tries to defend Hero Town from some evil characters that have come out of the game by going into the card game and teaming up with classic Dragon Ball characters.

Because of this otherworldly setup, Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission will actually feature characters from Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, and Dragon Ball Super. In total, the game will feature over 1160 cards featuring over 350 different characters. You can check out Mark Religioso’s full thoughts on brining Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission west below:

Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission is a one-of-a-kind experience that will surely captivate Dragon Ball fans. This is the first time a Super Dragon Ball Heroes series game has been slated to release for fans outside of Japan and we are excited to present this series and game to western audiences. The strategic gameplay will surely delight every Dragon Ball fan who loves a challenge.”

Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission will be release for both Nintendo Switch and PC on April 5, 2019. While the PC version of the game will only release digitally on Steam, the physical version of Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission for Switch and be pre-ordered on Amazon.
