Early this morning, the long-awaited release date for Dotemu’s Streets of Rage 4 seemed to leak via the Nintendo eShop in Europe. While the date had the game tentatively scheduled to launch on April 23, it seems that this is not the actual day in which we’ll finally be getting our hands on the brawler.

Via an email that was sent out by PR representatives for Dotemu, it was clarified that this release date for Streets of Rage 4 is incorrect. Despite being false, however, it was said that the actual launch date for Streets of Rage 4 is coming very soon. Assuming that the game is set to arrive in the near future, we’ll likely hear more about an official date quite soon.

While we may not be getting a release date announcement today, Doteumu did release a new trailer for Streets of Rage 4 that highlights a variety of retro options. SoR4 will let fans unlock throwback characters that boast pixel art models and move sets from the original games in the series. In total, this brings the number of playable characters to 17.

Additionally, and likely most notably for many fans, is the fact that Streets of Rage 4 will also boast the iconic soundtracks from the first to titles in the series. If you were worried that the music of this new entry wouldn’t be able to match up to those that have come before, then fear not, as you’ll still be able to listen to a variety of notable tracks while playing.

Streets of Rage 4 is set to launch on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC when it arrives. We’ll keep you posted on details regarding the title’s release date moving forward.
