If you’ve followed DualShockers for quite some time, you may be familiar with Starly Girls: Episode Starsia, a high-budget mobile title by Kadokawa Games featuring the tried and true mixture of waifus and mecha.

Unfortunately, the developer announced yesterday that the game will shut down on July 27th.

According to Kadokawa Games, the staff has worked hard to plan and manage events and to improve the gameplay in order to provide a better service, but due to “many obstacles” and after considering the current situation of the mobile market, they came to the decision to end the service.

The game has been made unavailable for download effective immediately, and all in-app purchases have been suspended. That being said, in-game events will continue until closure in order to let players enjoy their waifus for one last month.

That being said, those who liked the franchise should not be concerned. The team promised to devote its energies to the console game that has been announced last year (with platforms still unknown). The same promise has been made by Kadokawa President Yoshimi Yasuda himself, who mentioned that the console game will carry on the franchise’s mix of “space x beauty x mecha.” He also posted the image you can see at the bottom of the post, which is likely to be concept art for the new game.

It has certainly been a rough month for mobile games with the announcement of the closure of Muv-Luv: Alternative Strike frontier, and that of Hironobu Sakaguchi’s Terra Battle 2. Mistwalker first announced the shutdown for North America, and just a couple of days ago, for Japan as well.

In their latest financial reports, many publishers reported a slowdown of the growth of the mobile market in the country, which is likely to be negatively affecting the profitability of smaller titles.
