During Square Enix’s annual Final Fantasy XIV fan event, the company announced the latest expansion coming to the MMORPG, titled Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers. You can check out some new trailers revolving around the expansion below.

The story follows your character as they’re finally ready to take on the Garlean Empire. It also looks like Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers will have your character take on a much darker role as the “Warrior of Darkness.”

Blue Mage is the latest character job that’ll be coming to Final Fantasy XIV in update 4.5 well before the launch of Shadowbringers. Additionally, while no other new jobs were announced, we do see a character wielding what looks like the series’ famous gun blade. So that’s pretty exciting. The Blue Mage will have a level cap of 50 but that’ll be increased as time goes on.

On that note, the overall level cap in Final Fantasy: Shadowbringers will be increased from 70 to 80. A new race was also teased, and while it wasn’t officially announced the game’s director, Naoki Yoshida was sporting a shirt that seemed to reference the Viera race of Final Fantasy XII.

Furthermore, new beast tribes will be added into the game alongside new primals. As with all expansion, the game will be getting nine additional dungeons as well as some new raids. A “Trust” system will be added into the game, meaning that players will be able to run through dungeons with NPC characters, so subscribers can now enjoy the entirety of the expansion’s story alone if they so desire.

Lastly, a New Game Plus mode will allow players to go back and experience older content as their current characters. Subscribers will also be able to start visiting different servers in their data centers, albeit some features will be restricted when visiting other worlds.

Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers will be available sometime early in the summer of 2019. You can try out the MMO for yourself right now on PS4 and PC.
