For those who weren’t around when the PlayStation 4 was launched in North American in 2013, you may not have heard about Joey Chiu who was the very first person to get their mitts on the console at Sony’s New York PS4 event for both the PS4 and the PS4 Pro. Of course, due to COVID 19, Joey isn’t able to queue up as he normally would to purchase and enjoy Sony’s next-gen console so as a little thank you for his loyalty, Sony decided to gift him a brand new PS5 ahead of launch as well as a very cool commemorative plaque, that reads: “Joey Chiu. First in line for PS4. First in line for PS4 Pro. Patience is a virtue. This is for you. Play has no limits.” as a keepsake.
To accompany his new state of the art system and plaque, Joey also received a digital code that has the whole launch lineup at his fingertips. Taking to Twitter, Joey was understandably excited and exclaimed “Okay, this is 100 per cent the craziest thing to happen. This is insane.” In the comment section under Joey’s Tweet, Sony dropped a reply with five red hearts to continue their spending of love for him. Many people from the games industry including Greg Miller offered their congratulations and well wishes in bagging himself such a fantastic gift.

While this is great news for Joey and very well deserved, many people have been left out of purchasing themselves a PS5 due to how quickly and suddenly it went up for pre-order. In an interview with The Washington Post, designer Yujin Morisawa shared that the PS5 was originally going to be much bigger than it currently is. Yujin stated that “when I started drawing, it was much larger even though I didn’t know what engineering was going to do.” However, in response to the initial design, the engineering team told Morisawa that the concept was “too big,” and that he “had to shrink it down a little bit from the first drawing.”
It has also come to light that PS5 players cannot expand the console’s free space using external storage. Sony recently revealed that PS5 won’t support external SSD storages at launch, but the feature might be added to the console after launch. However, they have never talked about ordinary HDD storage. Also, it remains a mystery whether an external SSD storage could be as fast as PS5’s internal storage. Song has also revealed details on how you can transfer data from the PS4 to PS5. PlayStation provided a video via their YouTube channel that showed PS5 owners how to safely transfer data that includes one method of connecting both your PS4 and PS5 to the same WiFi network, signing into the same PlayStation account on both, and then transfer said data via your wireless Internet.
The PS5 will be available in select countries starting on November 12, 2020, followed by its larger worldwide release on November 19, 2020. If you haven’t had the chance to pick one up yet, May the odds forever be in your favor.
