SNK released a twelve-minute video giving updates and announcements to numerous titles under their umbrella including King of Fighters XV and Season Three of Samurai Shodown. The presentation was supposed to release yesterday but was pushed forward to today.

The showcase was hosted by Yasuyuki Oda and began with the reveal trailer for King of Fighters XV. Oda spoke with Creative Director Eisuke Ogura about the latest entry in the franchise with Ogura responding with “We’re focusing on keeping the series’ staple of being fast-paced while also adding enemies to make it more exciting.” After being asked about the development status of the title, Ogura said that the team is currently in the polish and optimization stage. More details regarding King of Fighters XV will be announced next week.

Alongside the KoF XV trailer was the reveal of King of Fighters XIV: Ultimate Edition coming exclusively on PS4 which includes eight DLC fighters, ten costumes, and ten themes for the PlayStation 4 with the base game. The title is already out for fans in Europe and will release in North America on January 20th via a digital-only release. A physical version will release exclusively in Europe later in the spring. That being said if you are a big fan of the KoF franchise remember that the PlayStation 4 is region-free so you can play any version of a game on any console for those itching for that physical release.

As a blast from the past, The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match has been announced exclusively for PS4 releasing later this year. The game will be rebalanced from its previous release and will feature online play with rollback netcode.

Lastly, Samurai Shodown revealed the first two fighters players can expect in its third round of DLC content. The first being Cham Cham who according to Director Hayato Konya, was heavily requested by fans to make it into the game. Cham Cham is set to release sometime in March. The second character shown was Hibiki Takane who originally appeared in a different SNK fighting game, The Last Blade 2. Parallel to Season 3 will be an update that gives characters readjustments and fix previous issues with the game like “prevent weapons from disappearing off stage.”
