Yesterday, during a conference at Magic Monaco 2018, Shenmue III creator Yu Suzuki introduced a trailer for the game.

This is actually an extended version of a trailer that was showcased behind closed doors at Gamescom 2017 and is being shown publicly for the first time, which means it comes with some very relevant caveats.

Basically, the footage is six months old. While it lets us take a look at some aspects of the game, like quicktime events and what appear to be minigames, it’s actually not representative of the visuals of the game, which have evolved quite considerably since then.

Making a comparison with the latest screenshots and those from January is actually a good chance to see just how much the game has evolved. The game’s assets have changed considerably following the publishing partnership with Deep Silver, which also led to an outsourcing deal with Indian Studio Lakshya Digital, that is working on the character models.

You can check the video out below, courtesy of YouTube user Tublushi. Of course, you should keep in mind that the video was recorded from the projector’s screen, so the quality is not perfect. A direct-feed version has not been released just yet.

A few months ago, Shenmue III has been delayed to the second half of 2018 to make it “bigger and more beautiful.” The game has been announced exclusively for PS4 and PC.
