Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Has Received a Brief New Story Trailer

Today, Activision and FromSoftware have released a new trailer for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice that this time isn’t focused on combat, but instead the story.

The video in question is only about 60 seconds in length and but it seems to show off a cutscene that will possibly appear near the start of Sekiro. We see the game’s main protagonist, a shinobi called Sekiro, or the One-Armed Wolf–referred to in this video as “Starving Wolf”–as a child seemingly finding a new master known as the Owl following the events of a great battle. The trailer concludes with time jumping forward to where we see Sekiro as an adult, similar to how he appears in the game.

FromSoftware has been very up front in the past about how Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will contain more of a direct narrative throughline this time around compared to the studio’s past work. Previous games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne have always taken place in rich worlds full of interesting lore, but this content is typically never delivered to the player in a very direct manner. Sekiro looks like it could be going in quite a different direction though, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they tackle it.

You can find the new story trailer attached below for your own viewing pleasure. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice releases next month on March 22 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
