Double Cross, the latest title from Runbow developer 13AM Games, has just been pegged with a release date. While it recently appeared at the Kinda Funny Games Showcase, it had been without a specific release date until today. Double Cross will be releasing for PC as well as Nintendo Switch on January 10.

At launch, Double Cross will cost $19.99 and it can already be pre-ordered on the Nintendo eShop today. The game is being co-published by both Graffiti Games, a fairly new face in the game publishing scene, as well as Headup Games, who are known for titles like Bridge Constructor Portal.

Double Cross has had a fairly interesting road to release since its initial announcement as well. The game itself is a Mega Man inspired sci-fi platformer that has players trying to find out who sabotaged the headquarters of the dimensional peacekeeping agency R.I.F.T. To help the game stand out, a grappling mechanic and some visual novel elements in the cutscenes were added. While this sounds good on paper, the fan response to Double Cross was lukewarm when the game was revealed back in April.

Specifically, many were not a fan of the game’s visuals and tiny bit of gameplay we saw and felt that it was uninspired. After this reception, 13AM Games took some time to rework the visuals and gameplay a bit before showing it off once more in October. It will certainly be interesting to see how much feedback was taken to into account and what exactly has been changed from that initial reveal when Double Cross releases next year.

You can check out the latest gameplay trailer for the platformer below. Double Cross is now set to launch for both PC and Nintendo Switch on January 10, 2019.
