Rumor: SNES Games Have Been Uncovered For Nintendo Switch Online Service

The Nintendo Switch Online Service has been abysmal to say the least. For $20 a year, switch owners get access to a catalog of NES games to play, the ability to play online for most games, and cloud saves. There are some other smaller things included, however, those are the standouts. Yet, not many people were begging to play NES games of their Switch, we now have to pay to play online when it was free for quite some time, and cloud saves are a feature that every console should have from the start. I believe the only saving grace for the service could be the addition of SNES games, and that might be on its way.

According to Nintendo Life, a data miner has dug up a list on SNES games that have been buried in the NES Online app since last months Switch update. You can take a look at the evidence yourself in a thread of tweets from @KapuccinoHeck.

The full list of games included in the list is as followed:

  • Super Mario Kart
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Demon’s Crest
  • Yoshi’s Island
  • Stunt Race FX
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • Pop’n Twinbee
  • Star Fox
  • Contra 3
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
  • Kirby’s Dream Land 3
  • Super Metroid
  • Super Mario World
  • Pilotwings
  • F-ZERO
  • Star Fox 2
  • Super Punch-Out!!
  • The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
  • Super Mario All-Stars
  • Breath of Fire 2

This would be an incredibly strong list to start out with if the rumor turns out to be true. There are some big RPGs missing such as Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI, however, the list is still great.

What does make this a little weird is that the list of SNES games was found in the NES Online app So would the name of the app change to NES/SNES Online? Nintendo Online? It would be a bit confusing, but I would just be happy to play through A link to the Past yet again, but this time on my Switch.
