Rogue Lords from developers Leikir Studio and Cyanide Studio looks to put you in the shoes of the devil is his quest to take down the world’s demon hunters. The game looks like a fun little roguelike that lets you recruit some of the world’s most evil bad guys. Today, at the Nacon Connect, we got a solid look at how the game is shaping up. Give it a watch below.

Rogue Lords is definitely entering an oversaturated genre. In 2020, roguelikes are a dime-a-dozen. What makes it stand out, at least to me, is the premise. It reminds me quite a bit of something like the classic Dungeon Keeper games. You’re slowly building up a stable of the world’s worst people to fight off the good guys. Of course, here it’s less base-building and more roguelike, but the comparison remains.

Players will recruit baddies like Dracula, the Headless Horseman, and Bloody Mary. As you play, you’ll slowly upgrade their skills and turn your motley crew into a fine-tuned machine. Today’s event didn’t really show much of the game in action, but the screenshots on the game’s Steam page appear to show tactics-based gameplay. In some ways, it looks reminiscent of a game like Darkest Dungeon, though we’ll have to see more to know for sure.

Rogue Lords is currently slated for a 2021 release. Curiously, it’s only listed for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One. You have to expect, with the next-gen consoles dropping later this year, that the game will eventually make its way to PS5 and Xbox Series X.
