PS VR and PC Title Rec Room is Adding Its Own Battle Royale Mode in June

After the explosive popularity of games like Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, everyone and their mother is swarming to get in on the battle royale, and this June that will appear to include the PlayStation VR social club, Rec Room.

Over on the PlayStation Blog, developer Against Gravity announced that Rec Room will be adding its own take on the Battle Royale genre with a new mode called “Rec Royale,” which will be releasing on June 7th, 2018.

The mode itself will play very much like a standard Battle Royale title where players will seek to eliminate others and be the last man standing, though with a new changes to incorporate VR. The Rec Royale mode will be available for free inside Rec Room, and will be cross-platform compatible between players across PS4 and PC.

Against Gravity gave a few more specific details that Rec Royale will support 16 players, while the setting will take place inside of an expansive national park setting where players can scavenge for loot and weapons across mountains, lakes, forests, and more. Players with registered accounts for Rec Room will also be able to access a public alpha for the upcoming mode this weekend from May 25 – 27 before its release next month.

Rec Room is available now for PS4 and PC, while the game’s upcoming Rec Royale mode will arrive on June 7th, 2018.
