The studio behind the racing simulation series Project Cars, Slightly Mad Studios, has been bought by publisher Codemasters for $30 million dollars.
In the announcement, Codemasters states the lauded Project Cars series will now be under the publisher’s umbrella, along with an “unannounced Holywood blockbuster title.” What that blockbuster title is is still unknown. However, it is known that Slightly Mad Studios is currently working on Project Cars 3 and Project Cars Go, a mobile version of the racing sim. It should also be noted that Slightly Mad Studios Founder and CEO, Ian Bell, will retain his position at the studio; Frank Sagnier, the CEO of Codemasters Group plc, will also remain in his role.
Both Sagnier and Bell have short statements about the acquisition. Both parties are excited about their partnership, especially with more streaming services and consoles just around the corner.

Codemasters is responsible for some of the most known and praised racing series such as F1, Dirt, and Grid. While I wasn’t a fan of the newest entries from F1 and Grid, Dirt has been one of my favorite racing series since it made its debut in 2007. Now, you can add Slightly Mad Studios’ Project Cars to that list.
