It’s been a big week for Pokemon news — last week during the Pokemon Presents presentation we got the announcement of three new Pokemon games in the works; Café Mix (which released today), Smile, and most importantly a new Snap coming to the Nintendo Switch. Even better, the good news doesn’t stop there for Pokemon GO fans.

Updating their blog post last night, developer Niantic announced that Season 2 of the Online PVP Battle Mode is returning to Pokemon GO after an almost two-week absence. The competitive mode was halted on June 13th, midway through Season 2, due to a game-breaking exploit that allowed players to hit multiple charge attacks in a row. In other words, players were decimating their opponents and raking in the rewards, unfairly climbing to the top of the GO Battle League leader boards. This appears now to have been fixed, and play seems to be resuming as normal.

Alongside that announcement, Niantic also confirmed a couple of changes to the mode in order to help it flow between now and the end of the season–and to make up for the lost time. Players will now be able to play a maximum six sets per day (increased from five) between now and the season end on July 20th. As an apology to affected players, there will be a week of boosted rewards with Niantic, removing some of the less desirable catches from the prize pool. However, despite all the good news, the GO Battle League leader board will remain down in order for them to “monitor the state of GO Battle League.”

The good news doesn’t stop there for fans either with Pokemon GO Fest fast approaching and the announcement of another new game due today during the second Pokemon Presents in as many weeks. What a time to be alive.

Pokemon GO is available now on all mobile devices; keep an eye on DualShockers today for any new announcements of upcoming, unannounced Pokemon titles.
