While Pokemon Sword and Shield just released less than two months ago, it seems as though it’s already time to see what’s next for the ever-popular franchise.

Announced today by Nintendo, a new Pokemon Direct presentation is set to occur later this week on Thursday, January 9. The stream is set to last for about twenty minutes and will kick off at 6:30am PST/9:30am EST. As for what will specifically be discussed, details haven’t been given by Nintendo or The Pokemon Company just yet.

Based on what we already know that is in the works for Pokemon, there are a few decent guesses we can make about what might appear during this stream. For starters, The Pokemon Company revealed two new products known as Pokemon Home and Pokemon Sleep last year. We haven’t heard about either title since, so there’s a good chance we could learn more here. Plus, there’s a new Detective Pikachu game set to be released on the Nintendo Switch at some point down the line, too. Now seems like a time in which we could hear more about that release.

There’s also an outside chance that perhaps something related to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate could come about during this presentation. As of now, the 5th DLC fighter for Smash hasn’t been revealed just yet, despite the fact that the character is planned to be joining the game’s roster before the end of February. While there’s a very outside chance that anything related to Smash will happen during this upcoming event, it wouldn’t necessarily be too surprising to learn that another Pokemon fighter is joining the roster.

Regardless of what happens during this Pokemon Direct, we’ll be here with all of the latest news once it transpires later in the week.
