Yesterday at Paris Games Week, PUBG Corp. revealed new information for their critically-acclaimed battle-royale shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

According to the press release, the Xbox One version will launch as a console launch exclusive via the Xbox Game Preview program on December 12, 2017 while the PC version of the title will be exiting Steam’s Early Access at a later date. Despite not having an official full release on PC, it is likely that the release date will closely follow the launch of the Xbox One version.

While the term “console launch exclusive” has been thrown around in the past, the current PUBG Xbox site notes it is an “Xbox One Console Exclusive.” This throws some doubt into the question “Will PlayStation fans ever get to play the game on PS4?”

The developer also confirmed that both versions of the game will not be identical, citing that both versions feature their own separate roadmaps while various Xbox One features and functionality will be modified through various updates. However, the developer has stated that their goal is to have both versions to be indistinguishable.

Originally released on March 23 of this year as a Steam Early Access title, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is an online battle-royale game. Up to one hundred players are placed on a map in a free-for-all, last man standing deathmatch. Both versions of the game are developed by PUBG Corp. subsidiary BlueHole Studios and the PC version is published by PUBG Corp. while Microsoft holds the publishing rights for the Xbox One version.
