With E3 2020 now officially canned, the immediate question on the minds of many shifted to what other publishers would be doing without the convention this summer. As for the team over at Xbox, it seems we now know how they’ll be adapting.

Revealed on Twitter by the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, it was said that new information regarding the company’s next-gen platform, the Xbox Series X, will now be revealed in a new digital event. Spencer didn’t say when this event would take place, but made clear that more info will be coming about in the next few weeks.

Essentially, it seems as though Microsoft will be holding its own event similar to what we’ve come to expect from Nintendo with its Direct presentations and Sony with its State of Play live streams. For many in the games industry, this is likely going to be what they end up pivoting to this year given that live press events won’t be transpiring for the foreseeable future. As of this writing, Sony hasn’t announced its plans when it comes to the full reveal of the PS5, but it wouldn’t be surprising at this point if they end up doing a similar event that Spencer has outlined here for Xbox.

The Xbox Series X is slated to launch later this year in Holiday 2020 at a still to be determined price and date.
