After many requests from fans, Phantasy Star Online 2 is finally releasing on Steam next week.

Sega made the announcement official today when it unveiled that PSO2 is set to land on Valve’s PC platform next week on August 5. Originally, the game released on PC earlier this year in May, a month after it came out on Xbox One. “We have heard the requests for a Steam launch, and we are excited to announce that soon Steam users in 36 countries on six continents will be able to experience PSO2 on their platform of choice, including popular features like Steam Achievements and Remote Play,” Sega’s Fred White said alongside the announcement.

The launch of Phantasy Star Online 2 will also coincide with the next major update for the MMO, which is called Episode 4. This next phase of the game, which will also release simultaneously on all other platforms, will see the continuation of the story where “players wake from a long sleep to find that there has been an internal invasion of fake ARKS members, mysterious enemies called Phantasms appear, and a new planet has been discovered in another dimension – Earth.”

Perhaps most surprisingly of all, those who end up grabbing Phantasy Star Online 2 via Steam will be able to earn a variety of rewards related to Valve’s most famous game franchises. Some of these items include outfits resembling Half-Life characters Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance, weapon camos that look like the minigun from Team Fortress 2 and the Frying Pan from Left 4 Dead, in addition to an evolution device that looks like Wheatley from Portal 2. Valve has actually done quite a few crossovers like this lately, with collaborations for Death Stranding and Fall Guys also having occurred. Further information on how to obtain all of these in-game items for Phantasy Star can be found over on Steam or via the video down below.

As for the future of PSO2, the New Genesis expansion for the game was unveiled last week and is set to launch in 2021.
