Sure, Persona 5‘s Phantom Thieves aren’t “technically” superheroes, despite them saving people in Tokyo over and over. So perhaps that was the idea behind some new fan art, crossing over Persona 5 with the variety of Spider-people from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Created by fan internet artist Loco Nathan, we saw the first glimpse of the project earlier last week when he Tweeted out a stylish rendition of Spider-Man Noir:

Then, a few days later, we got to see the finished project — a full mockup of the Spider Thieves:
"Alright, let’s do this one last time."

And, to be honest, the Persona 5 and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse mashup works out almost too well. Miles carries a Joker-vibe, Peter Porker scratches a lot of the same itches as Morgana, and Spider Gwen carries a similar bust as Ann Takamaki. Arguably, Peni Parker’s SP//dr is likely the furthest stretch, taking up the role of Best Girl Makoto.
This isn’t even the first time that Loco Nathan has taken on a Persona 5 and Spider-Man crossover. Earlier last week, he showed off another interesting take, this time more themed towards Spidey:

Outside of this mashup, both Persona 5 and Spider-Man have been a wellspring of inspiration for gamers and content creators. For instance, the fan-made board game (which is unfortunately unofficial) looks like a terrific time and a great showpiece. Meanwhile, I’m still waiting on someone with more coding talent than me to build out a full GameBoy Advance-style Persona 5, which was conceptualized by another Twitter artist:

On the other side of the spectrum, PS4’s Marvel’s Spider-Man has become a bastion for other types of fan projects–specifically after the Raimi suit was let loose upon the world. For instance, most fans have taken notice of a fan-made Miles Morales costume that will hopefully make its way into DLC. And that isn’t even including the re-imagining of Into the Spider-Verse‘s “Sunflower” by Post Malone, retooled through Fortnite.
If you haven’t yet picked up a copy of either Persona 5 or Marvel’s Spider-Man, both games are available now exclusively on PlayStation consoles. In fact, feel free to support both the developers by nabbing the titles on Amazon, if you want. Meanwhile, throw Loco Nathan a RT and Follow above.
