With the Chinese New Year beginning on February 12, Blizzard is preparing a new limited event for Overwatch to kick-off on February 4. Overwatch Lunar New Year 2021 event is called Year of the OX and will receive more details soon.

Teased by a brief video on Twitter showing D.Va burning her war machine into dozens of fireworks, Blizzard only revealed that the event will start on February 4 and end on February 25. Each year, dozens of new skins, sprays, and voice-lines are being added through the Lunar new year event, but this year’s details are yet to arrive. Since the icon of the Chinese New Year is OX this time, the Overwatch event takes that as its official name.

Aside from cosmetics, it’s expected to get one or more new modes during the new event as well. Last year, Overwatch received a new version of Capture the Flag mode, labeled as Blitz, with some innovative differences compared to the original version. So, it’s reasonable to think that we might get the same mode back in Overwatch Lunar New Year 2021 event as well.

Since its launch back in 2016, Overwatch has been one of the most-praised titles of Blizzard with continuous support from the developers. Despite the fact that the developers are now mostly focused on finishing Overwatch 2, the original version still receives new content. Lately, Blizzard launched the Kanezaka map which is a new home for the Free-For-All mode. It’s being said that the new map has some signs of a new upcoming hero, which might be unveiled in the upcoming BlizzCon 2021.

We already have an article up on DualShockers about what we could expect from BlizzCon 2021. However, if you want to know about the Overwatch part, you can rest assured that some new updates will be shared about the development process of Overwatch 2.

Overwatch is now available on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
