Overwatch League fans rejoice! The Shanghai Dragons actually won a match against the Boston Uprising, ending the team’s 42 game losing streak. Unlike their previous performances, it seems they did it with ease as they won 3-1.

In the inaugural season of the Overwatch League, the Dragons did not win a single game, finishing with a 0-40 record. After releasing eight of its players during the pre-season, the team looked to be making some moves to finally make their mark on in the league. However, even after the first two games, the Shanghai Dragons lost 1-3 to the Charge and 0-4 to the Vancouver Titans, two of the new additions to the Overwatch League.

Against the Boston Uprising, who did have a pretty solid first season, they were able to take Ilios pretty easily winning the map 2-0. It was the next two, King’s Row and Horizon Lunar Colony, where things got a bit more competitive. In the latter, the Dragons were even down 2-4 and made a comeback to win the map and the match. They did lose the fourth and final map, Rialto but that did not matter. They finally won.

No matter which team you’re rooting for, it is great to see the Shanghai Dragons finally get the win. I mean, look at the crowd at the Blizzard Arena at the end of that match. They are going nuts. Boston Uprising fans, despite losing, are jumping with joy. Los Angeles Valiant fans are clapping very enthusiastically just celebrating the moment. There were even a couple of New York Excelsior fans crying. It was such a great moment for the league.

The second season of the Overwatch League is in full swing. As of this writing, we are halfway into the second week of Stage 1, with the New York Excelsior at the top of the standings followed by the Atlanta Reign, Vancouver Titans, Seoul Dynasty and Philadelphia Fusion. More importantly, for the first time ever, the Shanghai Dragons are not in last place; they currently sit at the 17th spot with a 1-2 record and a -4 map differential. It’s not the best but it’s a start.
